“What’s a Near-Sighted Professor To Do… or Johnny Depp For That Matter?”

SAN CLEMENTE, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2006

Allyn Scura Eyewear has announced a new mid-century revivalist line of sun and ophthalmic eyewear -- classic styles from the 1940s to the 1960s that are modern, timeless and bold.

The new line offers discerning customers an alternative to the "what's-hot-now" fashions. "Our industry is saturated with 'me too' styles," says Allyn Scura, and has ignored a style-conscious consumer who is either 1) unmoved by fashion trends (e.g. the Harvard professor, the O'Melveny partner, etc.), and 2) anti-trendy, i.e. those who will always zig while the rest of the world ‘fashionably’ zags (Karen O and Johnny Depp don't wear Prada!).

Introducing the Legend, the Barton and the Parker…

Legend: Inspired by 1940s Hollywood, this classic horn rim style sold out quickly in the first round. Near-sighted actors such as James Dean, Gregory Peck and Johnny Depp have brought Ivy League "smarts" to the big screen.

Barton: This combination style from the 1950s was unique for its time -- it was narrower (i.e. top to bottom) than its more common Clubman counterpart. Named after the founder of MIT, the Barton Clubman is a true-to-the-period design.

Parker: This wrap frame pays homage to the 1960s Mod European film movement -- think Marcello Mastroianni and Michael Caine.

Product images and information can be obtained at http://www.allynscura.com/prototypes.htm. Offered exclusively in New York (Tracy Optical), Los Angeles (Montana Eyes), San Francisco (Through the Hayes) and Tokyo (Lunettes du Jura).

Allyn Scura Eyewear is formed by two key product divisions: 1) original designs by Allyn Scura, and 2) unused vintage eyewear, featuring over 50,000 vintage and antique frames for women, men and children - one of the largest collections of "new-old-stock" vintage eyewear in the world. Both product lines can be viewed online at http://www.allynscura.com.
